...interesting discovery about one photo in the book....
In the later section of the book, Kind of Green, the author makes this statement about one of his pictures of Cab Callloway in that CC two-page spread: 'Incidentally, this was the only photo I ever published, in a newspaper, The Andersonstown News'. Well, in the Irish Newspapers Archive site (https://archive.irishnewsarchive.com), which was used extensively for research for this book, the author found that published photo! And with it is a full article about Cab's appearance and about the whole North Sea Jazz Festival event in July 1990. Written not by bro Jim, but by Martin himself! See screenshot images below:
Now, wonders the author, was there anything Blues Brothers-like mystical going on there, when adjacent to the photo and story about Cab Calloway of BB fame, there just happened to be a picture of a church and an advertisement for a pilgrimage??? Was someone about to ..... see the light?
